The water cooler plays an important role in office life. Near it they learn the latest news, meet new colleagues and discuss projects in an almost informal atmosphere. What kind of water dispenser should be in the office and is it appropriate at home?
The main function of the cooler is to supply drinking water. But both pumps and simple dispensers can handle this. They do not require electricity and are completely safe for children. Suitable, for example, for a picnic. True, they only pour water at ambient temperature.
Coolers are the next step in the evolution of engineering. They can heat, cool and even carbonate water, pretend to be an inconspicuous cabinet or support a high-tech interior style.
Let's look at the main types of coolers. They can be divided according to different criteria.
By water source
Bottles. The bulk of economy segment units are designed to work with bottled water, which is supplied in 19-liter bottles. You can install such a cooler anywhere; all you need is an outlet nearby.
Flow-through, or purifiers. They are connected directly to the centralized water supply. A mandatory element is a filter; the most advanced (and expensive) models have a reverse osmosis system (a process in which water passes through a special membrane under pressure).
By function
There are three main functions - heating, cooling and supplying water at room temperature. There may be a separate faucet for each option.
There are also additional functions:
Preparation of sparkling water. For this you need a carbon dioxide cylinder.
Built-in refrigerator. An excellent option for a small office: at the bottom of the cooler there is a refrigerator compartment, which will accommodate several containers with lunch.
Storage shelves. The cooler is built into the cabinet, where you can place several pairs of tea, packaging of tea, coffee, sugar, and sometimes a spare bottle.
Tea table. The bottle is placed inside the cabinet. An electric kettle is installed on top, and there is space for a teapot. Inside there is a shelf for dishes or tea/coffee.
By bottle location
If the cooler is intended for bottled water, there are two placement options:
Above is the most common option. It is silent - water enters the glass under the influence of gravity. It will take someone strong and dexterous to install a new bottle in the office.
From below it is easier to deal with: no need to lift and turn over a heavy bottle. The water is supplied by a built-in pump; its operation is accompanied by quiet sounds.
By location
Tabletop. These are only the models on which the bottle is installed on top. This is a compact and inexpensive technique.
Floor-standing. The height (including the bottle) is usually from 90 to 110 cm. The bottle can be located both above and below. These are reliable units that heat and cool water quickly enough. They are chosen for use where there are many users - in large offices, clinic lobbies, schools, etc.
By cooling method
Electronic. They are distinguished by low productivity, so they are suitable for a home or office with a small team. Typically, such models are inexpensive, easy to maintain and repair.
Compressor They quickly heat and cool water, are reliable and efficient.
By control method
Pressing with a mug. You can operate it with one free hand.
Hand pressure. This option is more hygienic - the glass does not come into contact with the cooler parts. But you need two free hands - one holds the mug, the other presses the lever.
Mechanical or touch buttons on the front panel. The last option is the most modern and convenient to use.
Depending on the functionality, manufacturer, and class of equipment, the cost of water dispensers can vary significantly.
